Watch: Cowboys kicker has perfect season end on block

Dallas Cowboys rookie kicker Brandon Aubrey has been one of the biggest surprise success stories in the NFL this season and solidified one of the team's biggest question marks from recent years.

Entering play on Sunday he made all 35 field goal attempts this season and was closing in on an NFL record. But that streak came to a surprising end in the first quarter against the Washington Commanders when his 32-yard kick was blocked.

Have a look:

Fox analyst Greg Olsen did not want Aubrey's stats shown on the screen before the kick, or to even talk about them, because he did not want to have an announcer jinx situation. It did not work.

Former Indianapolis Colts kicker Mike Vanderjagt has the record for most consecutive field goals without a miss during a season at 37. Aubrey was tied with former Minnesota Vikings kicker Gary Anderson at 35 consecutive field goals.

What makes Aubrey's run so amazing is that he did not kick in college and was originally a soccer player. He did not start kicking full-time until he played in the USFL.

He also has made nine field goals of 50 yards or longer. So they have not all been automatic kicks. He earned that streak.

Aubrey has missed three extra points this season but remained perfect on field goals until Sunday.
