Former Vols WR Jalin Hyatt details how he feels he played in his rookie season with Giants

Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jalin Hyatt, a third round selection by the New York Giants in the 2023 NFL Draft, wrapped up his NFL rookie season this past weekend. 

Hyatt, who left the final game of the season due to injury, finished his rookie campaign with 23 receptions for 373 yards while playing in all 17 games for the Giants. 

The former Vol spoke to reporters after his final game and he detailed how he felt about his rookie season. 

"I definitely want to contribute more," said Hyatt. "I felt like I did alright this year. I left some plays out there that I wish I had back. I think the expectations for next year is just, for myself, to get better. Be more consistent. Getting open more. And making plays when it comes to me. That's going to be my expectation." 

Hyatt was in a tough situation in his rookie season. The Giants dealt with poor offensive line play for much of the season. And New York had three different quarterbacks start at least five games (starter Daniel Jones suffered a season ending injury early in the year). 

On several occasions, Hyatt was open on vertical routes down the field, but the quarterback either didn't see him or didn't have enough time to get him the ball. 

The former Vol, however, showed his potential in a win against the New England Patriots in late November when he caught five passes for 109 yards. 

Hyatt's game against the Patriots was one of the best games that a Giants wide receiver had in 2023.
