Bears could use future draft picks to move up for a 'gold level player' on Day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft
Daniel Bartel-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Bears have had a stellar 2024 NFL Draft class thus far coming away with the team's quarterback, wide receiver and offensive tackle of the future.

Heading into Day 3 of the draft, there are still plenty of impact players to be found within the remaining pool, but the Bears will only have one more crack to land a top prospect in the draft.

The Bears are scheduled to be back on the clock with the 122nd overall pick in the fourth round, a prime landing spot to land a solid addition to the roster, if the Bears actually stay put with that selection.

Following the Day 2 selections, Bears' general manager Ryan Poles addressed the media after selecting offensive tackle Kiran Amegadjie in the third round and also shared some insight on his plans for Day 3.

Based on what Poles said, there could be a possibility that the Bears could look to move around the board in more ways than one. However, in order to do so, the Bears would have to use some of their future picks.

The Bears are currently armed with nine selections in the 2025 NFL Draft thanks to the remaining picks from the trade with the Carolina Panthers and the trade that sent quarterback Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Bears could look to use some of those selections to move up, or even back into, the draft later today.

"We'll see how the board plays out," Poles said. "We got some gold level players that are still there. So, as it drops down we'll see if maybe we get two of them. But again, we'll just play the numbers game and we don't want to do anything crazy to keep an eye set for next year too. So, don't want to give away picks but if it's for gold player then we potentially can do that."

The Bears still have potential needs on the roster to address with their final pick, or potentially picks, in the draft including adding some help on the defensive line and maybe adding another wide receiver or defensive back to the roster.

However, Poles mentioned looking back into the free agency market to fill any remaining holes that are left over following the draft could be an option. We'll soon see if the Bears do get aggressive and which "gold level player" Poles has his eyes on.
